“People say that money is not the key to happiness, but I always figured if you have enough money, you can have a key made.”
Now we’re not saying work should just be about the money but if you reversed the situation, would you pay to be in the office? Probably not. So make sure that you remember your value and ask for more than you think you deserve. Rivers certainly wouldn’t have held back.
“I enjoy life when things are happening. I don’t care if it’s good things or bad things. That means you’re alive. Things are happening. “
Worth remember on the days that your boss has landed you with a pile of work and then swanned off early. Maybe it’s not the best day but if you’re still going, then you still have choices and there’s still time for things to change.
“I’ve learned from my dealings with Johnny Carson that no matter what kind of friendship you think you have with people you’re working with, when the chips are down, it’s all about business.”
It’s not personal, it’s business. Which means you shouldn’t take it personally and don’t take it home with you.
“I succeeded by saying what everyone else is thinking.”
There’s probably a lot to be said for not being quite as controversial as Rivers but speaking her mind made her career. Sometimes you just have to say what you’re feeling, you’ll feel better for living to your own ethics and it might just be what everyone else is thinking. And if it’s not, maybe you’re not in the right office.See also:
